The YHM R9 is a versatile 9mm suppressor built for high round counts and multi-caliber use. It’s a solid option for pistol, subgun, and even rifle platforms, offering good suppression without breaking the bank. A practical choice for Oregon’s range use, concealed carry practice, or home defense planning.
Description
The Yankee Hill Machine R9 suppressor measures 1.562 inches in diameter and 5.2 inches in length, weighing in at 10.7 ounces. It’s designed to reduce sound down to 123 dB and is constructed from 17-4 Ph stainless steel with a matte black Cerakote finish.
Versatile 9mm Suppressor
This suppressor isn’t just about silencing a 9mm; YHM designed it to handle a wider range of calibers. While optimized for 9mm – especially submachine guns and short-barreled rifles common among Oregon’s sport shooters – it’s also rated for .17 HMR and up to .308 Winchester. This makes it a practical choice if you want one suppressor for various firearms.
Oregon Use Cases
We see a lot of interest in suppressors for different applications here in Oregon. The R9 is well-suited for:
- Pistol Suppression: With the addition of a Nielsen Booster Assembly (sold separately), the R9 can be used on 9mm handguns for quieter target practice. Useful for maintaining neighborhood peace while practicing concealed carry skills.
- Subgun/SBR Use: Built with high-volume fire in mind, the R9 works well on 9mm carbines and submachine guns.
- Rifle Calibers: Its .308 Win rating expands its utility to larger caliber rifles, offering a single solution for multiple platforms.
- Range Days: Reduce noise fatigue and improve communication at the range, whether you’re sighting in a hunting rifle or practicing with a pistol.
- Home Defense: A suppressed firearm can offer a significant reduction in sound pressure indoors, protecting your hearing and those nearby.
Construction & Finish
The R9 features a durable 17-4 Ph stainless steel construction and is finished with a matte black Cerakote. This provides excellent corrosion resistance and a low-glare finish, important for field use and maintaining a low profile.
