Rain or shine, the pistol that lives in a Portland nightstand or a Tillamook glovebox should be simple and tough. CZ's DUTY 4.0 is both: a fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame, a serialized modular chassis inside it, and a 4-inch barrel under a slide that is ready for a direct-mount red dot. Fixed sights come standard. The trigger is CZ's refined SFDA, rated at 5.6 pounds with 9 mm of travel and a 4 mm reset. It is a new release, striker-fired, chambered in 9x19mm.
Oregonians in Hillsboro, Oregon City, Salem, Albany and Corvallis, and out on the coast around Astoria, have four versions to choose from. The DUTY 4.0 C compact is 15+1 and 27.2 ounces; the F full-size is 17+1 and 27.5 ounces. Extended base plates add two rounds to either. The MS models bolt a manual thumb safety onto the standard firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety.
Capacity on the service-size is 17+1 standard and 19+1 with the extended floor plate. Height 5.6 in (143 mm), empty weight 27.7 oz (780 g). It is the duty-belt, range and home-defense version of the line, and the one most owners find easiest to shoot well.
There is no manual safety on this model. Drop safety comes from the firing pin block, the trigger safety and the trigger-bar safety, the way most modern striker-fired pistols are set up. If you want a frame-mounted lever, the MS version has one.
What is new under the slide is the serialized modular chassis. The serial number lives on the internal chassis, not on the polymer grip, so the frame module is a part you can change while the gun stays the same gun. Around it CZ put a reworked SFDA striker trigger, rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) with a 0.16 in (4 mm) reset and 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) of travel, and a slide cut for direct-mount optics. CZ's own photos show it wearing Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dot sights.
Best fit: home defense, duty use, competition and long range sessions where the extra grip and two more rounds matter. Shooters coming from a CZ 75 will recognize the grip angle; owners coming from any other striker gun will notice the trigger first.
Oregon has no permit to purchase and no fixed waiting period right now; Measure 114 is delayed and still in court, so your dealer applies whatever rules are in force the day you pick up. The DUTY 4.0 ships to the Oregon dealer you choose at checkout. Ammo and gear ship to your door. Everything is price- and stock-checked live before you pay.
Questions buyers ask: Do I need a permit to buy a handgun in Oregon right now? Not today. Oregon has no permit to purchase and no fixed waiting period at present, but Measure 114 is still in court, so your dealer will confirm the current rules at pickup. Is the DUTY 4.0 barrel threaded? No. It is a 4-inch unthreaded barrel on every model, C and F, with or without the manual safety. How many rounds does the CZ DUTY 4.0 F hold? 17+1 with the standard magazine and 19+1 with the extended floor plate.
