Serial no. B3996. Manufactured circa 1895–1896 by Ludwig Loewe & Co. of Berlin for the Chilean military and later converted circa the 1950s–1960s to 7.62x51mm NATO for continued reserve service, 29″ round barrel. Bore is good with strong, well-defined rifling noted. The barrel and receiver have aged to an even dull grey patina, while the original factory markings remain sharp and clearly visible. The rear of the receiver is prominently marked “7.62/N,” identifying its later 7.62x51mm chambering. Serial numbers are non-matching. The stock displays expected handling and service impressions with a faint military cartouche remaining visible on the left side. This rifle represents the long service life of Chile’s Model 1895 Mausers, with the later NATO-caliber conversion allowing these turn-of-the-century rifles to remain useful well into the Cold War era. Action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
