This is a late Edo period (Shin-shintō) katana with a blade length of 26.875 inches (68.3 cm), mounted in shira saya. The tang is ubu with one mekugi-ana, and is signed:
「於江府 関兼房藤原勝之 謹作」
“Respectfully made by Kanefusa (Fujiwara) Katsuyuki of Seki, at Edo.”
The reverse is dated:
「安政三年八月日」 → “A day in the 8th month, Ansei 3” (August 1856).
The blade has a classic shinogi-zukuri sugata with moderate curvature and an extended kissaki. The hamon is an active notare–gunome midare, clearly visible in the current polish, with good activity and contrast. The nakago shows a rich Edo-period patina with crisp file marks and sharply cut inscriptions.
