Serial no. CR2228. Manufactured in 1939 under Romanian military contract, chambered in 8mm Mauser, 24″ round barrel. Bore shows scattered dark areas with rifling remaining visible. The metal has aged to an even grey patina. The left side of the receiver bears the “CR” serial prefix, identifying the rifle with the Romanian contract series, while a faint remnant of the original Romanian Royal Crest remains visible on the receiver. The stock shows scattered handling and service impressions throughout. This rifle dates from the primary 1938–1940 Romanian VZ.24 contract period, when Czechoslovak rifles were manufactured specifically for Romanian military service and incorporated distinctive Romanian features, including their sling arrangement. An interesting pre-WWII contract rifle with identifiable Romanian military provenance. Action is smooth and functions correctly.
