Serial no. 9505. Manufactured in 1943 at the Metal Goods and Weapons Factory in Budapest, Hungary, chambered in 8mm Mauser, 24″ round barrel. Bore is good with frosting and oxidation noted in the grooves, while the rifling remains strong. Serial numbers are matching except for the bolt. Rifle remains in overall very good condition and has been refinished at some point. The left side of the receiver is marked “G98/40,” with “Eagle/jhv/43” markings present. Originally developed from the Hungarian Model 35, the G98/40 was produced for German service during WWII and incorporated K98k-style features to simplify training and field use. Produced in relatively limited numbers, surviving G98/40 rifles are a scarce and desirable German-Hungarian WWII variation. Action is smooth and functions correctly.
