Serial no. 4407t. Manufactured in 1917 by Waffenfabrik Mauser A.-G., Oberndorf, chambered in 8mm Mauser, 29.5″ round barrel. Bore shows light frosting in the grooves with handsome, strong rifling noted. Serial numbers are non-matching. The metal has aged primarily to an attractive brown-grey patina, with a faint import mark noted on the barrel shank. Rifle retains its distinctive Lange “roller-coaster” rear sight. The stock shows expected handling and service impressions consistent with its age. A solid example of the Imperial German Gewehr 98 manufactured during the height of WWI. Action is smooth and functions correctly.
