Serial no. DI7729. Manufactured in 1890 at Torino Arsenal and subsequently converted during WWI to the Model 1870/87/15 configuration, chambered in 6.5x52mm Carcano, 33.5″ round barrel. Bore is bright with strong, well-defined rifling noted. Serial numbers on the receiver and stock are matching, while the bolt is unmarked. The metal has aged to an even patina throughout. The stock shows expected handling and service impressions but remains sound and free of cracks or significant damage. Originally produced as a black-powder Vetterli, these rifles were converted during WWI to supplement Italy’s urgent need for service arms. Action is smooth and functions correctly.
